The Last Of Us: HBO’s Hit Show Nominated for 24 Emmys

HBO’s The Last Of Us is gearing up for what could be a very successful awards season. This TV adaptation of Naughty Dog’s former Game Of The Year Award winner has been a huge hit and it’s really showing. TLOU could have a nice clean sweep in a wide range of categories. Including,  Best drama series, best directing in a drama series, best writing for a drama series, outstanding production design for a narrative contemporary program, outstanding contemporary costumes for a series, and outstanding casting for a drama series.

What Awards Are They Up For?

Speaking of the casting! The Last Of Us’ talented acting ensemble is also up for a few Emmys! Pedro Pascal (Joel), for best lead actor in a drama series. As well as Bella Ramsey (Ellie), for best lead actress in a drama series. We can not forget about Nick Offerman (Bill) and Murray Barlett (Frank)! Both are nominated for best guest actor in a drama series. Lamar Johnson (Henry) and Montreal Woodard (Sam) are also up for the same category after their memorable appearances.

The Last Of Us will have some stiff competition though. Succession and White Lotus both have snatched up some major award nominations. 27 and 23 respectively according to EuroGamer.net. Even if HBO’s TLOU does not walk away with an award, it has still made history by being the first video game adaptation to be nominated for major awards by a Hollywood body.

HBO’s TLOU sits at the top of a long list of failed video game adaptations. TLOU is anything but a failure though, the casting was impeccable as well as the writing. It added the moments of horror from the game as well as the beautiful scenes of a lost society. HBO and Neil Druckmann did an outstanding job and everyone involved deserves all the credit in the world.

TLOU Deserves Its Recognition

Will The Last Of Us be able to walk away with a few awards? We will have to wait and see as The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awards ceremony will take place on the 9th and 10th of September. It will be very interesting to see what will happen as fans from around the world are rooting for HBO’s The Last Of Us. After Pedro and Bella’s amazing job portraying these beloved characters, it is hard to imagine those two not walking away with an Emmy.
