Naughty Dog has seemingly pushed back on some recent rumors surrounding a possible The Last Of Us Part 3. Naughty Dog Director and co-president Neil Druckmann had some words via a happy New Years’ post on Twitter. Druckmann stated in his Tweet that we should “Be wary of “insider” info. What are these rumors?
Going back a few weeks there was an eruption on Twitter by fans Of The Last Of Us games as a fairly reliable source leaked some information on an upcoming project. The leaks stated that The Last Of Us Part 3 was in development at Naughty Dog and is being led by Neil Druckmann himself. Although many fans seemed to believe these rumors due to the source being a somewhat reliable one it now seems like the leaks are being questioned.
First off, Neil is not in any way denying a possible The Last Of Us Part 3. It seems like he chose his words very carefully by saying “much of it is fake” instead of saying all of it is. From this Tweet, it seems like he is leaving the door open to a third installment in the beloved franchise.
Second, even if Neil is saying that there is not a new The Last Of Us game in development at this time 2023 will still be a big year for the franchise. HBO’s The Last Of Us series is set to come out on the 15th of January. Pedro looks and sounds amazing as Joel Miller. And of course, Bella Ramsey will kill it as Ellie. This show is set to break the curse of terrible movie/TV adaptations of video games and we can not wait for it to air.
Will there be a Part 3?
The Last Of Us is such a beloved franchise. It is hard to imagine that there would not be a third installment of the series. Part two was left very open-ended and the fans are really hoping for Ellie to redeem herself and get her family back.
Part one has a pretty happy ending. The Second game has a sad ending. It seems likely that a Part 3 could end happily. What would Ellie have to go through to get her family back? What else would she have to lose to right her wrongs? There are so many possibilities. We all hope that in the near future we get The Last Of Us Part 3.
