The Mandalorian Season 3 Reportedly Won’t Begin Filming Until 2022

The Mandalorian on Disney Plus.

The Mandalorian became an instant fan favorite when it debuted on November 12th, 2019. Fans were instantly invested in the series and its characters ever since episode one. Ever since season two’s amazing final episode fans of the show have been wanting more and it seems they will have to wait a while as season three reportedly will not even start filming until 2022.

Now, this leaves fans with a bitter taste in their mouths but the new Boba Fett spin-off show called The Book Of Boba Fett will serve as the Mandalorian season 2.5 as the two shows will be very closely intertwined. The Book Of Boba Fett has “recently wrapped filming set for a December 2021 release,” according to Screen Rant.

Alongside many other shows that have been announced such as Kenobi which has already started filming and will come out in 2022 and an Ahsoka Tano show, which is to be determined.

More Star Wars content coming to Disney Plus

So there is plenty of Star Wars content cooking out on Disney Plus and it should hold fans over until season three of The Mandalorian finally comes out. In the final episode of Season 2, legendary character Luke Skywalker made an appearance to save the Mando and his group and take Baby Yoda to be trained at his new Jedi Order.

The possible main reason for the delay of season three is the soundstage used for The Mandalorian is being used for the Boba Fett show. Another reason could be Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are both working on The Book Of Boba Fett and do not want to divide their attention rather they want to focus on one at a time to make them to the best of their abilities.

Also, the Mandalorian himself Pedro Pascal is set to star in HBO’s The Last Of Us TV series which could cause problems in the filming for both shows.

So it looks like fans will have to wait to get to see more of The Mandalorian but will have plenty of other Star Wars shows to keep them busy until season three is out on Disney plus.

Even with the disappointment that comes with the delay, it could be a good thing with all that time in between they can really work on refining the story and making it truly perfect for the enjoyment of millions of fans.
