The Masked Singer Season 5 is set to begin filming very soon. Although we don’t know which stars will be hiding under the elaborate masks, it is clear that there will be one big change. Nick Cannon won’t be starting off the season as he’s been diagnosed with Covid-19.
Following his positive test, production decided not to shut down. Instead, they replaced Cannon with Niecy Nash until he’s felling well. Nash will take over hosting duties to kick off Season 5, and she’ll continue to fill in for Nick until he’s back on his feet, per Cinema Blend.
Nick Cannon Steps Away From The Masked Singer Due To Covid-19
The popular reality singing competition will start production on Thursday, February 4. However, Cannon will be welcomed back with open arms as soon as he’s recovered.
The Masked Singer is set to begin airing in March. This is likely why production was unwilling to delay filming until after Nick was feeling well enough to host.
The series has become a huge hit for the network. When Season 4 ended back in December, it was the number one entertainment series on television. It shared the top spot with NBC’s beloved drama, This Is Us.
Loyal fans of the show know that Niecy Nash is no stranger to showing her face on the series. She has appeared as a guest judge on the show in the past, joining the likes of panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeon, and Nicole Scherzinger.

During Season 4, The Sun prevailed as the latest winner. Upon being named the winner, she was unmasked, and revealed to be singer LeAnn Rimes. She beat out fellow finalists Nick Carter and Aloe Black to take home the golden mask trophy.
In the past, many familiar faces have been seen on the show. Stars such as Lil Wayne, T-Pain, Wayne Brady, Jesse McCartney, Busta Rhymes, Tori Kelly, Bob Saget, Tom Bergeron, and so many others have showcased their singing chops on the show.
Currently, the show’s spin-off, The Masked Dancer, has been making headlines. The series is hosted by comedic actor Craig Robinson.
During it’s first season, the show has revealed stars such as famed rapper, Ice-T, beloved tv star Bill Nye “the science guy”, Elizabeth Smart, singer Brian McKnight, Jersey Shore star Vinny Guadanino, and singer Jordin Sparks.
The Masked Singer airs Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. on Fox.
