According to TV Line, “The Middle” scored an early renewal from ABC, which could have something to do with it moving to Tuesday nights, and being Tuesday’s most watched sitcom on the network in the 8 o’clock spot in five years. However, the show’s early renewal news comes as time is ticking down on the “Modern Family” cast’s current contracts, which are set to expire at the end of Season 8. Is ABC covering their bases in case “MOFY” doesn’t return? Either way, fans are looking forward to seeing what the Heck’s will be up to when they return next season, and what the rest of Season 8 will bring for the fictional family.
The move to Tuesday proved lucrative for ‘The Middle.’
According to ABC’s Entertainment President, Channing Dungey, the show is not only beloved by fans, but has helped to launch the Tuesday night comedy on the network this season.“The Middle has been one of the network’s most consistent performers and helped us to launch a whole new night of comedy when it moved to Tuesdays this season. The Indiana Hecks have found America’s sweet spot with their authentic, acerbic and always loving take on parenting, work, kids, marriage and life.”
