According to Pop Culture, Ashton Kutcher recently spoke out about the show’s end on the WTF podcast with Marc Maron, revealing that it was simply time to end the show.

Ashton Kutcher reveals why The Ranch ended

“The story [of The Ranch] was told,” Kutcher told Maron. “I love everything that we did. Everybody there was still highly in love with each other.”

“Netflix owns the show, so it’s not like there was this big syndication boon that’s going to come if we shoot two more seasons,” Kutcher explained. “I’ve been on shows where you keep going, and you keep going, and then you’ve got a brother who’s a gorilla.”

The series finale of the show saw Colt and Abby officially reconciled and moved into the Peterson ranch just in time to celebrate Christmas, The pair seemed more in love than ever after nearly getting a divorce in the previous season. They even admitted that they wanted to have another baby.

How did the show end?

Meanwhile, Beau and Joann were ready to move out Iron River ranch and see the world before Joann’s illness took all of her memories for good. The pair continued to house hunt for their perfect home.

Maggie was also happily settled in a Florida commune. The family’s matriarch admitted that she was in a romantic relationship with a woman, and returned to Colorado to settle her affairs before moving back to the Sunshine State for good.

Eventually, Colt made a deal with Lisa Newman that ended with his father keeping Iron River and him selling the Peterson ranch. Colt told Beau that he and Abby were still to live in the house, but that he would stay on to run Iron River with his dad.

Meanwhile, fans didn’t seem to agree with Ashton Kutcher about it being time to end The Ranch. Many of them wanted the show to continue, and even called for the character of Rooster to return.

Although Rooster was presumed dead in an earlier season, his body was never found. In reality, actor Danny Masterson was fired from the series following sexual misconduct accusations.

Fans can watch all of the seasons of The Ranch now streaming on Netflix.
