Prince Harry recently took a trip to the UK, which reignited discussions about his strained relationship with the royal family, particularly regarding his interactions — or lack thereof—with King Charles. Despite being in London for the Invictus Games’ 10th anniversary, Harry did not meet with his father. Speculation arose that his wife, Meghan Markle, influenced his decision. Nonetheless, Harry didn’t get a chance to visit with Charles, who was diagnosed with cancer last year, during his trip back home.
According to a new report, Prince Harry was in London in early April for a court appearance about his UK security detail. That very same day, King Charles was also in London for a cancer treatment. While the father and son were in the same place at the same time, they still didn’t meet, which seems very telling of their relationship.
Did Meghan Markle Stop Prince Harry from Seeing King Charles in London?
“Charles was in town for a rescheduled cancer treatment. Harry could have arranged a morning meeting and gone to see his dad as soon as he landed—or even better, flown in the day before to see him,” an insider told Radar Online.
The source went on to reveal that although Harry would have loved to see his father, he didn’t make the effort because he was allegedly worried about how it would impact Meghan.
“Harry would have liked to pay his dad a visit, but he didn’t – and everyone is saying it was his fear of upsetting Meghan that held him back,” an insider confided.
King Charles Allegedly Won’t Answer Prince Harry’s Calls and Letters
The strained relationship between Prince Harry and the royal family has been evident for some time. Despite attempts at reconciliation, communication remains limited. There have even been reports that Harry’s calls and letters to King Charles go unanswered amid the rift.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex officially left the Royal Family fold in 2020. Since then, they’ve been very critical of the monarchy, and have publicly spoken out about the dark side of the firm. Whether or not Meghan Markle actively prevented Prince Harry from seeing his father, the situation underscores the ongoing challenges that are still happening between the Sussexes, King Charles, and the rest of the royals.
