During the first two seasons of the show, Belly (Lola Tung) was madly in love with Conrad (Christopher Briney). However, her easy relationship with Conrad’s younger brother Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) also appealed to her. Throughout Season 2, fans watched Belly and Conrad’s romance play out in flashbacks. Actor Lola Tung says that when it comes to Belly’s strong feelings for Jeremiah, it’s all about the ease of their relationship. Tung tells Entertainment Weekly that Belly feels heard and seen when she’s with the younger Fisher brother.
“I think that’s one thing that Belly had trouble with Conrad, the communication aspect of it, so she feels safer and more heard in this relationship with Jeremiah. For her, it was a win. Obviously seeing Conrad shocked was like, ‘Aw, sorry you were in the dark about this, buddy.’ But I think it was a good Belly-Jeremiah moment,” she told the outlet.
Gavin Casalegno knew that Belly and Jeremiah moment would be huge
While speaking with the outlet, Casalegno opened up about his thoughts on the big kiss between Belly and Jeremiah. “I think I literally said, ‘Mic drop,’ I was like, ‘Oh, snap! Good luck with that. That’s going to be fun.’ I knew on paper it was going to be just a wonderful scene, and then doing it was something completely different. It was fun.”
Of course, the kiss between Belly and Jeremiah is going to have big consequences for all three characters. It will impact Jeremiah and Conrad’s relationship, Conrad’s feelings for Belly, and the dynamic that they’ve shared during Season 2.
How will Conrad react to Belly and Jeremiah’s kiss?
As for how Conrad will react, Christopher Briney says it could be bad. “It’s such a big moment within the story and the arc of the season and for these characters. It’s pretty massive,” the actor stated. “It was a tricky one to approach through the character because you’re like, ‘How is he going to react to this?’ He can be sort of unpredictable. Is he going to lose his s—? Is he going to lose his mind? What is he going to do? This could go so many different ways. The answer is: Revert to old habits.”
Fans of the book series likely have an idea of how “The Summer I Turned Pretty” Season 2 finale will play out. However, others will just have to wait with bated breath.
