“The Summer I Turned Pretty” is one of the most talked-about TV shows of the year. The series, which follows teenager Belly Conklin (Lola Tung) as she falls deeply in love with two brothers, Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno) has captivated fans. Now, it seems that there could be much more to the story. An Amazon Prime exec has teased plans for a spin-off.
According to Amazon’s head of TV, Vernon Sanders, “The Summer I Turned Pretty” is a show that has solidly struck a chord with fans. Of course, the streaming network would want to capitalize off of the popularity. This means that expanding the universe has absolutely been considered. In addition, Jenny Han, who wrote “TSITP” book series is also in on the idea.

“It had been one of our goals for years to have that defining show for that audience,” Sanders told Deadline. “So we’re just over the moon…This show is going to continue to be a huge centerpiece for us, and we absolutely have plans to continue building it. Jenny’s got great vision for where she wants to go with all of it, but we’re already hard at work developing complementary pieces,” Sanders continued. “I will say stay tuned, but Jenny’s got some exciting surprises. So we’re thrilled about a Season 3, and she’s got a vision for more.”
So, what would “The Summer I Turned Pretty” spin-off be about? There are a few options when it comes to expanding the story. It could follow the characters into their adult years (Sadly, even recasting them for more mature actors). Considering their complicated histories, fans would love to see Belly, Conrad, Jeremiah, Steven, and Taylor navigate life as adults.
Are we getting a prequel series about Suzannah and Laurel?
However, a prequel series that touches on the friendship and lives of the gang’s mothers, Laurel and Suzanah, may be a better fit. Throughout the series the two best friends often talked about their college years and the wild times they had together. Seeing a vibrant and young Suzannah as well as a young and free-spirited Laurel would be thrilling for viewers.
Meanwhile nothing has been confirmed. However, it’s a good possibility that Jenny Han would be on board to do a spin-off to “The Summer I Turned Pretty.” After all, her other popular series, “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” had a spin-off. Netflix created a series centering around Lara Jean’s younger sister Kitty.
