The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Justin Hartley replaces Michael Muhney as Adam Newman

The Young and the Restless fans got some big news about the future of the role of Adam Newman it was officially announced that actor Justin Hartley has signed on as the replacement of Michael Muhney in the role of Adam Newman.

This news will have a conflicting emotions from The Young and the Restless viewers who have been anxiously awaiting some form of news on this matter one way r another.

In January,Y&R writers fired fan favorite Michael Muhney from the CBS daytime soap infuriating thousands upon thousands of life long viewers who stated that they would stop viewing the number one daytime soap if Muhney was not rehired.

It has been a cat and mouse game for viewers for the past several months with conflicting reports that Muhney was in talks with writers to make his return to the beloved role.

New Adam Newman announced by Y&R!

The Young and the Restless has left the options open in Adam Newman’s return hinting at his return and showing only shadowed images, and angry hands as fans grew more anxious to have the Adam Newman return from the dead story resolved.

As previously reported last week Michael Muhney tweeted hat he was officially moving on from The Young and the Restless and would not be returning to the show.

One week on August 19 the soap opera news broke announcing that Justin Hartley was officially the new Adam Newman and would begin filming in September.

Justin Hartley’s first air date as Adam Newman is set to occur sometime during November, 2014. Which means That Y&R fans can expect the Adam Newman return from the dead story line to really heat up just in time for the holidays.

Justin Hartley is best known for his previous television roles on Smallville, and his current role starring on ABC’s drama Mistresses,

Hartley stated about his new soap role to TV Guide,

“”I’m so pumped about joining Y&R — I watch it all the time and can’t wait to get in there and get my hands dirty! I have great respect for daytime drama. I love the branding. I love the style. What can I say? I love good soap!”
