Tim Curry made a rare public appearance over the weekend showing up in his wheelchair on the red carpet at the 19th annual Actors Fund Tony Awards Viewing Party.

The “Rocky Horror Picture” star Tim Curry suffered a massive stroke three years ago that left him with a severe speech difficulty and wheelchair bound. It was a huge surprise for fans to see Tim Curry out and about these days. The actor however was being honored at the event and received the organization’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Curry, 69, receives Lifetime Achievement Award

“I’m doing well and I’m looking forward to it,” the actor told Los Angeles Magazine before the party. “I’ve done a few benefits for the Actors Fund and I think it’s a marvelous organization. I hope not to have to use it.”

Tim Curry, is best known for his iconic pop culture role both onstage and onscreen as Frank ‘n’ Furter in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Curry is also well known for his roles in film and television as Wadsworth in the mystery comedy film “Clue” and as the terrifying Pennywise the clown in the 1990 horror miniseries Stephen King’s” It.”

Curry reveals maintaining his sense of humor through rehabilitation absolutely vital,” but “not tough.” Tim Curry states he will keep pushing through his recovery process and thanks fans who continue to wish him well by sending words of support and inspiration.
