Tim Tebow will be back on the field soon, but not the football field. The 29-year-old has officially signed a baseball contract with the New York Mets, the team confirmed via Twitter.

According to People Magazine, the former professional NFL quarterback signed a minor league contract and will participate in the Mets’ instructional league in Florida. As many fans know, Tim Tebow’s professional sports careers has been very disappointing.

A former Heisman Trophy Winner in college, Tebow was drafted by the Denver Broncos and played three seasons in the NFL, first with the Broncos and then with the New York Jets. Last year Tim was cut by the Philadelphia Eagles in training camp and didn’t appear in a regular season game.

Last month, Tim Tebow announced that he was planning to pursue a career in professional baseball. Tim was an all-star baseball player in high school at Nease High School in Florida, where hit had a batting average of .494. Currently, Tebow works as an on-air sports analyst for the SEC Network. Tim will continue that job during his baseball training. He’ll also stay active with his charity, The Tim Tebow Foundation, which grants wishes for sick children and organizes proms for people with special needs.

Very outspoken about his religious beliefs, Tebow had this to say after being cut by the Eagles, “Disappointments come, but you can’t dwell on them. You have to look for the next thing that God would have you to do.”
