Tom Brady and the Patriots are still paying for “deflategate.” The New England quarterback had his 4-game suspension reinstated in appeals court this week.
Tom Brady Suspension Reinstated For ‘Deflategate’
According to ESPN, a federal appeals court has officially ruled that Tom Brady must serve is 4-game suspension, originally handed down by the NFL, and later overturned by a judge. The New England Patriots quarterback is expected to serve the suspension at the beginning of the 2016-2017 season.
“We hold that the Commissioner properly exercised his broad discretion under the collective bargaining agreement and that his procedural rulings were properly grounded in that agreement and did not deprive Brady of fundamental fairness,” the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Monday in a 2-1 decision in New York.
Tom Brady was originally issued the suspension after what is now being called “deflategate,” where the Patriots were accused, and later found guilty, of deflating footballs for use in games, which isn’t the first time the team has been involved in a high profile cheating scandal, which coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady’s reputations being put on the line.

If Tom Brady’s suspension holds up this time around, it looks like the quarterback could miss games against the Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, Houston Texasns, and Buffalo Bills before returning in week 5 to square off against the Cleveland Browns.
Meanwhile, during the off season, Brady signed a 2 year contract extension that dropped his 2016 salary from $9 million to $1 million. This would reportedly save Tom about $1.6 million in lost salary during his 4-game suspension.
