“General Hospital” and “Days of Our Lives” alumn Tyler Christopher recently celebrated his 50th birthday, but that’s not what has fans talking. Instead, fans of “General Hospital” viewers were intrigued by the idea of the actor returning to Port Charles after he made a very clear statement about wanting to return to reprise the role of Nikolas Cassadine, a role that he originated in 1996, yet again when fans noticed that Adam Huss had stepped in to fill the role, which is currently held by Marcus Coloma. “I’m available if Marcus Coloma needs a day off… just saying,'” Christopher wrote via his Instagram story this week.
Over the years, Nikolas Cassadine has been played by a variety of actors. The character was taken over by Colton Scott in 1999. In 2003, Christopher returned to the part, and he continued to play Nicholas until 2016, before Nick Stabile briefly filled in. Meanwhile, when Christopher was having surgery in 2005, Chris Beetem also briefly acted as Nikolas during that time,” per Soaps in Depth.

Tyler Christopher later moved on to “Days of Our Lives,” where he portrayed the role of Stefan DiMera, and found himself causing drama in Salem when he got a bit too close to his brother Chad DiMera’s wife, Abigail Deveraux DiMera, and even fell in love with her while she was suffering from a split personality disorder. After Christopher left “DOOL,” another “General Hospital” alum, Brandon Barash, took over the role.
The role was recast with Marcus Coloma, who still plays him today, after stepping into Nikolas’ shoes in 2019. Christopher has approximately 20 years of experience in the role, with his most recent appearance on “General Hospital” coming in June 2016. Recently, the drama surrounding Esme has kept Nikolas busier than ever, but the fan-favorite character is no stranger to chaos, as Christopher proved while he held the role.

Meanwhile, Huss is also a familiar face to soap opera fans as he has also appeared on sudsers such as “Days of Our Lives,” “Passions,” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” before landing the role of Nikolas on “General Hospital.” He’s also been seen on popular shows such as “The Bar,” “NCIS: Los Angeles, and Ironside (via Soaps).
While fans love Marcus Coloma’s version of Nikolas Cassadine, if he’s going to step away from the role from time to time, it seems that fans would like to see Tyler Christopher return to his former home for a bit of nostalgia.
