Val Kilmer Shocks Fans, Makes Rare Public Appearance

Val Kilmer shocked his fans by making a very rare public appearance on Sunday night for his TwainMania Foundation according to MSN reports.

It is very rare these days that Val Kilmer, 59, leaves his home to venture out publicly. Val strolled the carpet with his 23-year-old son Jack by his side.

The “Top Gun” star oddly donned a pair of binoculars hanging outside of a black leather jacket. He was not without what has become his traditional neck scarf and appeared in good spirits as he stopped to chat with adoring fans before going inside.

As previously reported, Kilmer in 2015 Kilmer began sparking health concerns after the actor began to appear noticeably thin and began wearing scarfs around his face and neck leading many to believe he was battling throat cancer.

For years Val’s appearance kept fans worried about his obviously declining health. Despite fan concerns, Kilmer continued to deny dealing with any medical issues.

In 2018, health concerns regarding Val once again began surfacing in the celebrity news reports. Val did finally admit that he had been dealing with throat cancer for the past three years.

The star had attempted to keep his condition hidden from the public only recently coming forward and admitting his illness. In December of last year, Kilmer opened up about his cancer fight, revealing how the diagnosis changed his entire outlook on life. “I was too serious,” Kilmer told The Hollywood Reporter of his career before cancer. “I’d get upset when things like Oscars and recognition failed to come my way.”

Today Val claims he focuses on his health and the important things in life and living and spending time with his family and friends. It was also reported that close friend and Top Gun co-star Tom Cruise revealed that he and Scientology cured Val of his cancer.

Despite, Val’s miraculous cancer recovery, Val has never admitted, nor denied Tom Cruise’s participation in his recovery. In fact, Val Kilmer and Tom Cruise are set to hit the big screen together once again in the upcoming sequel to their hit film Top Gun: Maverick which will hit theaters June 26, 2020.
