Is The Vampire Diaries coming back for Season 9? Rumors have been flying and fans are dying to know if the speculation is true. Could Elena, Damon, Stefan, and the rest of the gang return for more drama?
The original series follows Elena (Nina Dobrev) as she gets sucked into the world of vampires, werewolves, and doppelgangers. after meeting hunky Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) and his dangerous brother, Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder). The show was a huge fan favorite and has continued to draw a fanbase, who still watch all eight seasons on Netflix.
The Vampire Diaries revival rumors continue
Over the past year, rumors have been swirling that the show may get a revival. However, a pick up for Season 9 hasn’t been confirmed. While the speculation has been relentless, there’s not much of a case to bring the series back. In the end, Stefan sacrificed his life in order to save his brother and the town of Mystic Falls. The show wouldn’t be much without Stefan in the storyline.
There have been two successful spin offs. The Originals followed Klaus, Rebecca and their siblings, who were also the very first vampires of all time. Legacies continued the story with a school for supernatural children, which was hosting at the Salvatore boarding house.
There has been no confirmation about talk of bringing The Vampire Diaries back for more episodes. It seems that fans would certainly tune in if Dobrev, Wesely, and Somerhalder were involved. However, that doesn’t seem like a likely reality. Although fans still love the series, it’s unlikely that the stars would want to return to reprise their roles.

The cast has moved on
Nina has moved on to star in movies. Paul has landed other television gigs as well. Meanwhile, Ian is currently acting on yet another vampire series tilted V Wars, which streams on Netflix.
While Season 9 of TVD appears to be a longshot, there are also other spin offs that could be done. The world of vampires and werewolves, as well as the town of Mystic Falls offers plenty of possibilities.
Although there are tons of rumors in circulation, fans shouldn’t get their hopes up when it comes to waiting for the Mystic Falls crew to return. It looks like that ship has sailed.

“These articles of the vampire diaries season 9 floating around on FB better stop 🙁 unless it’s really gonna happen,” another wrote.
“If Vampire Diaries season 9 is supposed to come out in 2021 it’s automatically going to the best year ever. I’m calling it now,” a third tweet read.
It looks like only time will tell if the hit show will ever return for revival or reboot in the future.
