Walking Dead Fans Worried For Daryl’s Dog In Season 11

Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead

With the final season of AMC’s The Walking Dead right around the corner anything could happen. With the end finale in sight, any number of survivors could fall victim to the apocalypse and not just the human characters.

A recent survey has come to the conclusion that fans of the series are the most worried about Daryl’s dog — whose name is Dog— dying.

“’The Walking Dead’ Season 11 Preview Special, a live episode of ‘Talking Dead’, aired on AMC this weekend and revealed the results of fan-voted poll which asked people to name who they’re most worried about going into season 11. Maggie (Lauren Cohan) came in at 5th place with 9%. Connie (Lauren Ridloff) then followed at 13%, with Negan slightly higher with 15% in third. Ezekiel then ranked second with 23%. However, the runaway winner, the one who fans fear for the most, is Dog, with 40%,” reports We Got This Covered.

Fans speak out about Daryl’s dog

Daryl, played by Norman Reedus, is a fan-favorite character and is also confirmed to be getting a spinoff show alongside Melissa McBride’s Carol. Daryl has had his dog for a few seasons now and fans of the series loved the animal at first sight. As far as animals go in ‘The Walking Dead’ universe, they usually don’t last very long. Looking back at Rick’s horse from Season 1, as well as a few others along the way.

Soon after the dog’s debut in late 2018, a petition asking the writers not to kill him off was started and quickly gained 50,000 signatures. On a series that has dared to kill child characters off, it’s only natural to fear for the pup’s safety. Showrunner Angela Kang responded to the petition saying that she doesn’t know if she has the heart to kill off Daryl’s little companion.

Season 11 of ‘The Walking Dead’ airs on Sunday, August 22 on AMC and is sure to kick things off with a bang. Writers have promised a dark and brutal final season and so far there is no talk of the dog joining Daryl and Carol on their road trip spinoff series. But of course, only a few people know for sure so for now we will have to wait and see how it all ends when season 11 finally premieres.

If the dog happens doesn’t survive, fans will be forced to mourn his death together. However, if he lives on and goes to the spinoff we can celebrate together.
