Welcome to Plathville parents Barry Plath and his estranged wife Kim Plath’s decision to divorce has been hard on the entire family. The kids are all dealing with the fact that their parent’s marriage is over. But it is a little more difficult for their dad to accept.
Welcome to Plathville: Barry Plath Can’t Hide His True Feelings About Kim Plath Moving On
Barry Plath continues to feel blindsided by his ex, Kim Plath. The Welcome to Plathville Dad is trying to accept that their 24-plus-year marriage is over. Kim has clarified that she is ready to move on from her marriage. She has a new man and says she greatly enjoys her life these days.
However, it has not been quite as easy for Barry Plath to accept. He is well aware that Kim is seeing someone else now. But it is still painful for him to think about. Since Kim announced her involvement with Ken Palmer, the estranged exes are about to cross paths for the first time.
The mother of nine expresses how important she feels it is for her and Barry to set aside their issues and remain civil for the sake of their children.
“This is the first time I’ve been at an event with Barry and the children since they all have learned that I’m dating someone now,” she says. “I’m a little bit nervous. It’s a little bit awkward, but it’s important for Barry and I to set aside our differences so that the children can have two parents there who are civil to each other.”
Kim Makes Effort To Interact With Ex
The Welcome to Plathville children continue trying to accept the changes within their family. Whether they agree with Kim dating someone new or not, their mom made it clear that this is where her life is now.
Kim Plath also says she feels awkward about interacting with Barry Plath. But tonight, it is not about them. The Welcome to Plathville family is gathering to support Moriah Plath during her first ballroom dance competition,

The tension is thick, and it is easy to see that Barry and Kim are uncomfortable around each other. Because of this, it is also making the children feel ill at ease. Barry is having difficulty accepting Kim’s new relationship. He makes it clear that he is unhappy and doesn’t approve of Ken.
During his confessional, Barry states, “For the sake of the children, I can be around Kim, and I can be civil and put myself in Moriah’s shoes and say, ‘Hey, it just would be nice to have us all together… If you show your support for me, that would probably mean a lot to me.'”
Welcome to Plathville: Plath Siblings Take Barry’s Side In Parent’s Split
The older siblings of Welcome to Plathville are very supportive of their dad, Barry. Moriah and her sister Lydia Plath told Kim they did not support her decision to date. Ethan Plath also makes his position on the matter clear.
During his road trip to Minnesota with younger brother Micah Plath, Ethan and Micah praised their dad. They feel he is handling everything very well. They appreciate and respect that he is not falling apart or going off the deep end.

Ethan makes a comment to Micah specifically about alcohol. Many TLC fans believe that was a direct dig at his mom, Kim Plath’s 2022 DUI car crash and arrest. Whether or not Kim’s DUI will be addressed in future episodes remains unknown.
The Welcome to Plathville family has many issues they are facing within their family. Their parents’ divorce and the family drama with Ethan’s wife, Olivia Plath, and Kim have taken a toll on all of them. But the drama is far from over. It looks like it is only just beginning.
