“Welcome to Plathville” Season 5 is only two episodes in so far, and it already looks like the credit card controversy between Matriarch Kim Plath and her daughter-in-law Olivia Plath will not come to a settlement anytime soon.
It might be that the credit card crimes or misunderstandings, depending on which of the Plath women you are listening to, will be the main focus of the entire season. Alliances are being formed…And not just within the family. The viewers are also taking sides.
“Welcome to Plathville” Season 5 viewers are split regarding whose story they believe. Olivia Plath publicly outed her husband Ethan’s mom, Kim, during Season 4. She claims that soon after she and Ethan were married, she discovered that Kim was using Ethan’s credit card without his permission and not reimbursing her son for the charges.
Once she found out about the charges, Olivia also says she confronted her husband, who said he was unaware of all the costs. She asked him to change his PIN. However, Ethan allegedly told his wife he had no idea his PIN number or how to access his account to change things.
His wife said she was in shock. She immediately figured out how to access her “Welcome to Plathville” spouse’s credit card account and quickly changed all his personal info, login, and PIN.
The next time Kim attempted to use the card, she was denied because she did not have the correct security information. Olivia said when Kim asked her and Ethan about it, she told her mother-in-law they had changed the information, and she would no longer have access to it. Olivia claims Kim was furious with her over the matter.
Welcome to Plathville: Kim’s Story Differs From Olivia’s
We will address Kim Plath’s version of the credit card misunderstanding. Kim says that Olivia has everything entirely wrong on this matter. She admits that she and Ethan were engaged in a business venture together. They each made a good deal of money. However, Kim handled the books, paid bills, and everything that goes with operating a small business.

One Reddit discussion on the “Welcome to Plathville” credit card battle suggests, Hypothetically, that since Olivia and Kim’s feud goes back and much more profound than this credit card drama, it could be possible that Olivia saw an opportunity to take Kim down. Olivia and Ethan were already married when this went down, so Olivia has access to her husband’s personal information.
Could Olivia Have Set Kim Up?
Olivia may have set herself up to look like the hero to Ethan, once again saving him from his meddling and untrustworthy parents, namely Kim Plath. The best part (of the fan-speculated plot) is that Kim admitted to Ethan that she had used the card for business. Now, he knows this much to be true. He also has Olivia whispering in his ear to make his mother look terrible.
Here is the kicker: Olivia then changes Ethan’s information and stops the charges. So when it comes to it, who can Ethan really believe? His mom, who’s alleged charges are all over his statement. Or his wife, who stopped his evil mother from dragging him into debt. You make the call. If you are Ethan, Olivia’s evidence is pretty tough to deny.
Once again, this is Fan Speculation, but it opens viewers’ minds to a whole world of possibilities. Could “Welcome to Plathville” Olivia Plath set Kim Plath up to look bad in her husband’s eyes?
There is also one more thing. Olivia didn’t expect Moriah and Micah to turn against her and return home to their parents, Barry and Kim. Since they took Kim’s side, they are now just two more people in Ethan’s family who want to turn him against her.

One last note: this “Welcome to Plathville” speculation has fans’ wheels turning about the many other ways this credit card story could unfold.
