Welcome to Plathville stars Ethan Plath and Micah Plath‘s road trip is therapeutic for the brothers. It gives them time to work through their issues with the family drama concerning Olivia Plath and Kim Plath. The trip also allowed them to re-strengthen their bond as brothers and talk about all the family issues, including their parents, Kim Plath and Barry Plath’s divorce.
Ethan Plath & Micah Plath Praise Their Father Barry Plath
Micah and Ethan have been through a lot as brothers, especially over the past couple of years. The Welcome to Plathville stars’ recent trip home to Cairo, Georgia, was eye-opening for the older siblings. Many things have changed. The brothers learn that their mom, Kim Plath, is now dating Ken Palmer, a family friend and younger sibling Isaac Plath’s flight instructor.
Kim’s children know about her new boyfriend, whether she told them herself or the other children shared the news. Ethan and Micah take time during their long drive back to Minnesota to discuss their trip.
When Ethan tells Micah that he feels their dad, Barry, is handling the divorce well, Micah agrees. Neither of them agrees with their parents’ split or how their mother, Kim Plath, did things.
Welcome to Plathville: Ethan Takes A Swipe At Kim?
TLC viewers have continued questioning whether Kim Plath’s 2022 DUI arrest would be addressed in Season 5 of Welcome to Plathville. So far, nothing has been mentioned, until now. During the preview clip for Tuesday’s episode, Ethan Plath tells Micah he is proud of how his dad handled the split.
Ethan makes a point to praise his dad for going to the gym to work out his frustrations. He also noted that Barry didn’t turn to alcohol and is still doing a great job looking out for the little girls and caring for them. Of course, the statement is not directed at Kim, but many fans feel it is the eldest son’s subtle way of taking a swipe at his mom.
This would not be the first time that Ethan Plath has made a dig at Kim Plath. In September 2022, Ethan shared a photo from RealityTeaSquad on his social media page that called out Kim, asking how the homeschooling was going. He captioned the photo share, writing, “The Internet is something else yet sometimes accurate.” 😂
Welcome to Plathville: Micah & Ethan Left Wounded By Parent’s Split
Kim Plath made it clear in the previous episodes that she is moving on with her life with her new boyfriend, Ken Palmer. She made a point to let her children know she is dating and will be living her life to suit her.

None of Kim Plath’s children appeared happy with their mother’s news. But this week, it looks like Micah Plath and Ethan Plath are especially hurt by it. They are taking their dad’s side. Ethan tells his brother if he and Olivia split up and she began seeing someone else before the divorce was final, he would be livid.

Ethan Plath shares his feelings, and they appear to hit him on a very personal level. Is this a foreshadowing of things to come for Ethan? There is still a lot of drama to come for the entire Plath family. But it is easy to see that there are a lot of hurt feelings.
