“Welcome to Plathville“. fans have some questions about the Season 5 timeline. Eagle-eyed viewers are starting to pick up on some interesting clues that are raising many questions about Kim Plath and the entire family.
Welcome to Plathville Season 5: Kim & Ken’s Awkward Meeting
During the September 26 episode titled “Life’s But a Walking Shadow,” fans began picking up on many inconsistencies that don’t appear to coincide with the show’s timeline. During last week’s show, Kim Plath reveals helping her 17-year-old son Isaac Plath purchase a plane.
Now, TLC fans are aware by now that Kim Plath has moved on with a new boyfriend since her split from her “Welcome to Plathville” spouse, Barry Plath. According to In Touch Weekly‘s past reports, the former couple first announced their split in June 2022.
But last week’s show shows that Kim and her son Isaac meet up with his flight instructor to buy a plane from him. Isaac’s flight instructor is Ken Palmer. In case you didn’t notice, a strange interaction between Kim and Ken took place. During their greeting at around 17:36 into the show.
Isaac greets Ken Palmer with a friendly handshake, and Kim looks to raise her arm as if she is going in for a hug, but then Ken quickly shakes her hand. It seems like there is a brief moment of uncomfortableness.

But that is not all. A quick look into Ken Palmer’s Facebook account shows that his banner photo is the same plane that Isaac and Kim bought. Not a big deal there. But looking through Ken’s past photos reveals that he was spending a lot of time with Isaac…And the Plath family.

Now for some more strange “Welcome to Plathville” coincidences or not. It appears that Ken Palmer and Kim Plath made their relationship Facebook official sometime around March 4 of 2023, just about the same time she was tying up all the loose legal ends from her October 2022 DUI.
Ken began posting photos of him and Kim Plath, or Shannon Rose, as she refers to herself on Facebook. Kim/Shannon’s page shares photos of herself and her children, but oddly enough, none of Ken Palmer.
However, Ken’s page has a few photos of the couple together, and she often responds to his posts ( as Shannon). This is all very odd because, according to Season 5 of “Welcome to Plathville,” Kim recently mentioned to her daughters Moriah and Lydia that she was ready to start dating again.
This news did not go over well with them, but Kim says during the preview trailer that she won’t let that stop her. Another reason fans believe something is amiss about Kim and Ken’s dating timeline is that Lydia spilled the news last November that Season 5 filming was underway. This was just a couple of weeks after Kim’s car crash and DUI.
