With the NFL’s week, one action said and done The Cleveland Browns have finally won their first game of the season. Cleveland’s win against Baker Mayfield and the Carolina Panthers is the team’s first week one win since 2004 against the Baltimore Ravens.
As the Browns get ready for week two against the New York Jets they also look to start the season with a record of 2-0 which has not happened for the Cleveland Brown since 1993. The Browns are in a great spot for a week two victory to advance to 2-0 for the first time in 29 years.
When was the last time the Browns started a season 2=0?
Some of you might remember the Browns beating the Bengals in week one of that faithful season. Bill Belichick’s Cleveland Browns would then go on to host the San Francisco 49ers for some Monday Night Football action. Bernie Kosar would hit Michael Jackson for a 30-yard TD pass before the half to give the Browns a 20-13 lead.
The Only scoring in the second half would be a Matt Stover field goal which would solidify Cleveland’s 23-13 win and a cool 2-0 start to the season.
The Browns’ defense was immaculate that game as they picked off Steven Young three times that game as well as a Jerry Ball strip-sack of the future Hall Of Famer Michael Dean Perry would recover.
That 49ers team would advance to the NFC Championship game that season as Belichick’s Browns would win again in week three and have a record of 5-2 at their bye week. Unfortunately, injuries would plague Cleveland and they would end the season with a final record of 7-9.
Will the current Browns move to 2-0?
Now the current Cleveland Browns look to make it 2-0 as they will take on the 0-1 New York Jets at FirstEnergy Stadium on Sunday. The Browns’ defense and special teams saved them against the Panthers so hopefully, Jacoby Brissett will look a lot more comfortable going into week two as the Browns look to stay on track until Deshaun Watson can return from his suspension.
Will the Cleveland Browns be able to pull off a week two win and stay undefeated? Or will they fall to 1-1? Only time will tell as everyone prepares for more NFL action.
How many sacks will Myles rack up on Sunday? What will the final score be? It Is sure to be another hard-fought game for Cleveland and hopefully they can come away with a week two win and move to a record of 2-0 on the new season.
