Yellowstone Season 5 spoilers: Is Rip hiding a big secret from Beth?

‘Yellowstone’ Canceled: Is This The End For Rip Wheeler & Beth Dutton?

Yellowstone” fans are still reeling from the news that the hit Paramount Plus series has been canceled. The network announced on May 5 that the series would conclude the second half of Season 5 in the fall, which will serve as the show’s swan song. Of course, fans were stunned, and couldn’t help but wonder what will become of their favorite characters, especially beloved couple Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton.

The “Yellowstone” cancelation news comes after months of speculation about the show’s future and rumors that leading man Kevin Costner was causing issues and butting heads with the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan. Costner reportedly has problems with the filming schedule and didn’t want to continue past Season 5.

Yellowstone is ending after Season 5

While the modern western series is set to officially end later this year, Paramount announced that a sequel series will also begin airing this fall, and that it would pick up the story where “Yellowstone” left off. Fans can’t help but wonder if characters from the show will move over to the sequel series, and if Beth and Rip will follow.

When fans last saw Beth and Rip they were going to be separated by distance as Rip as well as half of the other cowboys at the ranch were headed off to Texas to visit Jimmy at the 6666’s in hopes of saving the herd. Meanwhile, Beth and John were in the middle of a huge feud with Jamie, as each side plotted to take the other down in the form of murder.

What’s next for the franchise?

Perhaps John Dutton will be killed of, but if that was the case, why not continue the original series without Kevin Costner? Fans are having a hard time understanding the decision to pull the plug on the series. However, they are hopeful that the sequel series will live up to the hype. Currently, rumors are flying that Matthew McConaughey will serve as the leading man for that show. However, nothing else has been reported about just yet.

Of course, the “Yellowstone” franchise also has a number of prequels such as “1888” and “1923” to watch, as well as other sequel series in the works like “6666s” and “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” to continue the franchise’s success.

With only six episodes left in the “Yellowstone” saga, it may be hard to bring closure to the current Dutton stories. However, fans are hoping to see Beth, Rip, Casey, Monica, and perhaps other cast members in the upcoming sequel series which would be a good consultation prize following the show’s abrupt and shocking cancelation.
