Yellowstone Fans Call Out The Mistreatment Of Beloved Character

There has been plenty of controversy surrounding “Yellowstone” as of late. The series is one of the most popular on television. This means that fans have a lot of opinions about the characters, storylines, and more. As the series sets to end after the second half of Season 5 in 2024, fans will surely have even more to discuss. For now, a rewatch has some viewers feeling a bit angry about the treatment of the beloved character, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser).

Yellowstone fans think Rip is mistreated by the Dutton family

“Yellowstone” began airing on CBS amid the Hollywood strikes. Many new fans are experiencing the show for the first time. Meanwhile, others are doing a rewatch. However, plenty of viewers can agree on one thing. The Dutton family isn’t always fair to the beloved character of Rip. Recently, one fan spoke out about the plot point via Reddit.

The viewer revealed that they believed the Duttons did Rip dirty in Season 2 when Kayce was handed the reigns to run the ranch, taking over Rip’s job. During the episode, Kayce and Rip fought it out, in which Rip allowed Kayce to win the fight. He also moved into the bunkhouse with the rest of the ranch hands. It must have been so hard for Rip to go through that. However, he did it for the ranch and for John Dutton (Kevin Costner).

“He comes back and quietly guides him on how to run the ranch despite how betrayed he has to feel. If I could write the ending of this entire show, Rip would get it all, the ranch, the money, and the family he deserves,” the post reads.

Should Rip get the ranch in the end?

Other Reddit users jumped in on the conversation. One person pointed out that John could have helped Rip get back on his feet and clear his name. However, he saw the potential to make Rip into his loyal sidekick.

“John saw that Rip had a lot of fight in him and could be useful later, so he developed Rip into his loyal attack dog,” one person stated. “I hope he gets it all bc he is the strongest man on the show, and def deserves it,” another comment read.

There’s no doubt that fans love Rip. They see his strength and loyalty to the Dutton family, especially John and Beth Dutton. They also see how much he loves the ranch. Perhaps he’ll get a happy ending when the series ends.

“Yellowstone” is set to return for the final episodes of Season 5 in November 2024.
