Yellowstone Season 5 spoilers have been few and far between. In a recent episode, more of Rip Wheeler’s (Cole Hauser) dark past was revealed. During the episode, flashbacks revealed more of Rip’s early days on the ranch.
Fans may remember that Rip came to live with the Dutton family after his father murdered his mother and brother, and Rip killed him. In one of Yellowstone’s craziest moments, Rip ran away from home and found himself on Dutton land. John Dutton (Kevin Costner, Josh Lucas) offered Rip a job and a place to live. Rip accepted and became a staple on the ranch.
Yellowstone Season 5 spoilers: Rip may be keeping a secret from Beth
In the flashback, Rip is seen waiting for wolves with his fellow cowboy Rowdy. The two have bad blood between them as at the time they were both interested in Beth Dutton. Rowdy began to speak about Beth in a way that Rip didn’t approve of. A confrontation ensued and the duo started to fistfight. Rowdy later pulled a knife on Rip. Looking to defend himself Rip grabbed a large rock and hit Rowdy in the head several times. Later, the pair made amends, and Rip took care of the injured cowboy.
Eventually, Rowdy began to feel worse and asked Rip to get help. Rip rode quickly to the ranch to get John. He told him the truth about what happened and John, Lloyd, and Rip rode to Rowdy. However, when they got there Rowdy was already dead. Rip began to cry about what he’d done. Meanwhile, John told Rip that he would have to lie about the incident. Rip looked devastated, but complied. It was that moment that led to Rip getting his Yellowstone ranch brand.
Kai Caster speaks out about Rowdy’s Yellowstone death
Now, actor Kai Caster, who played Rowdy on the show is opening up about the shocking revelation. After Yellowstone Season 5 spoilers revealed Rowdy’s death, Caster shared his personal theory. The actor revealed to Entertainment Tonight that he believes Rip has kept the secret of Rowdy’s death from everyone, including Beth.
“I don’t think [Beth] knows, just because I think that present-time Rip is so stoic and he’s not much of a sharer,” Caster told the outlet. Meanwhile, the actor admitted that Rowdy was to blame for the fight that ultimately caused his death.
“I definitely think he was trying to provoke Rip a bit. I think that after everything that happened the last time you’d seen Rowdy with Beth and everything, I think he was definitely embarrassed by what happened.” He added, “And obviously Rowdy’s not used to that. I think he definitely was trying to provoke Rip and just push his buttons a little bit and just be Rowdy. He’s a bit of a snake. He was just trying to do his thing.”
It remains to be seen if Beth Dutton knows about Rip Wheeler’s part in Rowdy’s death. However, Yellowstone Season 5 spoilers suggest that big things could be in the future for the characters. For now, viewers will simply have to tune in to find out what’s in store for the Dutton clan.
