Yellowstone Season 5 set up some major drama. The season has been split into two parts and after the mid-season finale, fans can’t wait to see what happens next. However, one thing appears to be certain. The Dutton family is in the middle of a civil war. On one side, Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) and his new girlfriend Sarah Atwood. On the other side, Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and her dad John Dutton (Kevin Costner).
In the mid-season finale it was clear that both sides were willing to do whatever it takes to get what they want. Beth wants to make her father happy. Of course, all John wants is to save the ranch and preserve it for future generations. Meanwhile, Jamie wants to sell pieces of the ranch in order to make money, which he believes will also help save the ranch.
However, Yellowstone Season 5 got really dark when Beth found out about “the train station.” Fans know that the “train station” is the term used by the Dutton family to describe the place where they dump their dead bodies. Beth suggested that Jamie be taken to the train station in hopes of getting rid of him for good.
Yellowstone Season 5 spoilers: Will Jamie strike first?
Meanwhile, Jamie and Sarah also discussed a similar option. The pair teased hiring a hitman to make it appear that Beth and/or John is was killed in an accident. Now, Wes Bentley is revealing that it looks like Jamie could strike first when it comes to firing the first shot in the family’s war.
“I think he has to,” Bentley told Entertainment Weekly of Jamie making the first move. “There’s an element of: This has to happen now because the play that’s been made only allows for that. He knows this,” the actor continued. “They’re gonna kill him now, like he thought they would if he played the impeachment game. He’s a chess player. He’s three steps ahead,” Bentley said. The actor added, “He’s thought it through a hundred times.”
Jamie and Beth have a complicated relationship
Bentley went on to reveal that he doesn’t believe that Jamie would be able to kill Beth with his own hands. Although Jamie did kill his biological father, he grew up with Beth. He also feels a sense of responsibility about why Beth has so much past trauma. Fans may remember that Jamie is the reason why Beth can’t have children. That fact adds to the bad blood between the adoptive siblings.
The Dutton family situation is a sad one. Meanwhile, fans will be forced to wait until summer 2023 to see how the rest of Yellowstone Season 5 plays out.
