“Yellowstone” Season 5 has been building up some major storylines for the Dutton family and those close to them. However, some viewers have been left confused and asking what happened to Jimmy? Warning: Spoilers below!
Many fans may remember that Jimmy Hurdstram (Jefferson White) had a very tumultuous storyline in “Yellowstone” Seasons 1 through 4. He was forced to work at the ranch after his grandfather worried that he would end up back in jail or dead due to a drug addiction. He also began to compete in rodeos. Just as Jimmy was settling into the cowboy life and making friends with the guys in the bunkhouse, things took a turn.
What happened to Jimmy on Yellowstone?
Jimmy’s grandfather was killed by people that he owed money to from his drug days. He was also severely injured during a rodeo ride. While recovering from his injuries, Jimmy made a promise to John Dutton (Kevin Costner) that he wouldn’t compete in the rodeo again. However, after he did and got another injury, John thought it was time to send him off to a more strict ranch in Texas called 6666’s (The Four Sixes). While in Texas, Jimmy learned a lot about himself and even grew up a bit. It was there that he met a woman named Emily and fell in love.
When Jimmy returned to Montana to visit The Yellowstone Ranch he brought Emily with him, and announced that they were engaged. Jimmy also showed off his new cowboy skills and wowed his old friends. It was clear that going to Texas has done wonders for Jimmy’s life, and that’s when he revealed that he planned to move back to Texas with Emily and work on the 6666’s.
Jimmy said a heartfelt goodbye to his Yellowstone pals and drove off into the sunset with Emily to start his new life at the end of Season 4. So, now that we’re midway through Season 5, why haven’t we seen Jimmy?
Fans will see Jimmy in the 6666’s spin-off series
The character of Jimmy is presumably living his life in Texas and thriving (we hope). However, fans haven’t seen the last of him. Viewers might catch a glimpse of Jimmy during Yellowstone Season 5, but if not they won’t have to wait long to see what he’s been up to because the show is developing a spin-off about the 6666’s ranch, and Jimmy and Emily are sure to be front and center throughout the duration of the series, per TV Guide.
While fans will surely be happy to see Jimmy again, many are still hoping that he’ll return to the flagship show at some point, and that he’ll have an epic reunion with his Yellowstone cowboy buddies.
