‘Yellowstone’ has given fans shocking deaths like Lee Dutton
One of the most shocking moments in “Yellowstone” comes in the very first episode. As viewers begin to get to know the Dutton family, it’s clear that John is the ultimate rancher. He also has a strong hold on his family and his business. John’s daughter Beth is there for him with whatever he needs. Meanwhile, his son Jamie is a lawyer who helps to keep him out of trouble. Although he’s estranged from his son Kayce during the pilot episode, John’s oldest son, Lee, seems poised to take over the ranch. Sadly, Lee never got that chance. He was shot and killed by Kayce’s brother-in-law during a battle for cattle between the Duttons and some of the residents of a nearby Native American reservation.
Another tough character death came when fans got to find out what happened to John’s late wife. In a flashback, it was revealed that John’s wife was out riding horses with a young Beth and Kayce when she fell from her horse and was crushed. Beth tried her best to go back and get help. Sadly, it was too late. By the time John found his wife she had passed away.
Beth Dutton is a force to be reckoned with
Beth Dutton is one of the most talked about characters on television. The only daughter of John Dutton has proven to be tougher than her brothers time after time. Not only is she a shrewd businesswoman, but she’s also sharp-witted and has no problem attacking with his fists and her words. Beth is fearless on the outside. However, she is often an emotional mess behind closed doors. Beth carries around a lot of guilt and regrets about her mother’s death. She also has a lot of issues when it comes to her longtime love Rip Wheeler.
In flashbacks, “Yellowstone” fans have learned that Beth and Rip have a very volatile relationship. Their romance also once resulted in a teen pregnancy. At the time, Beth begged her brother Jamie to help her get an abortion. He took her to a clinic on the reservation, where she underwent sterilization. Now as an adult, Beth is traumatized by the ordeal and it hurts her deeply that she can’t be a mother.
Beth has also survived some brutal attacks by the Dutton family’s enemies. She’s been beaten and burned, but she continues to get back up and fight for her life.
‘Yellowstone’ reveals Jamie Dutton’s true identity
Just when “Yellowstone” fans thought that they knew all of the Dutton family secrets, it was revealed that Jamie Dutton isn’t who everyone believed him to be. While running for office, Jamie obtained his birth certificate. It was then he found out that he was adopted by the Dutton family. In reality, Jamie’s father had murdered his mother before he came to live with John and his family.
Rip Wheeler’s tragic backstory shocked Yellowstone fans
Rip Wheeler is widely considered to be one of the most beloved characters on “Yellowstone.” Over the years, viewers have learned more and more about Rip’s backstory. Sadly, Rip came to work with John as a young teenager after his father had brutally killed his mother and brother. Rip attacked his dad, and killed him before going on the run and was given a job at the ranch.
Rip is a man of few words, but people tend to listen when he speaks. During one painful scene, Rip is seen calling in a favor. He asks a gravedigger to exhume the body of his late mother. Rip then takes the ring from her finger and gives it to Beth. The moment is completely heartbreaking and shocking.
Monica also has a painful past
Kayce’s wife, Monica, has been at the center of plenty of “Yellowstone” drama as well. Monica was seen suffering from a head injury which nearly caused her to end her marriage with Kayce. In the first episode, she also lost her brother when Kayce shot and killed him after he killed Lee.
However, some of the most painful things that Monica’s had to endure revolve around her children. Her son Tate was kidnapped and abused. In addition, she became pregnant again but lost the child after a car accident.
