Yellowstone Spin-Offs: What You Need To Know

yellowstone dutton news

“Yellowstone” fans are still devastated by the fact that the series is ending with the second half of Season 5 later this year. However, that doesn’t mean the franchise is dead. In fact, there are plenty of spin-offs for viewers to enjoy, and here’s what you need to know about the other shows in Taylor Sheridan’s western cowboy universe.

Yellowstone fans have a lot to look forward to

Die-hard “Yellowstone” fans have likely already watched the prequel series “1883.” The series consisted of just one season and starred Tim McGraw as the first Dutton family member to settle in Montana. However, the storyline heavily revolved around his character’s daughter, Elsa Dutton, whose life played out in a beautiful montage during the episodes.

Following the success of “1883,” Taylor Sheridan announced another prequel series, “1923.” The show followed a new generation of Duttons. The second season of the series is still upcoming. Of course, fans are looking forward to seeing how it all plays out after the shocking Season 1 cliffhanger. Meanwhile, “Lawman: Bass Reeves” is also set in the “Yellowstone” universe.

Taylor Sheridan weighs in on Yellowstone spin-offs

As for upcoming shows in the franchise, fans have plenty to look forward to. It has been announced that Sheridan is working on another prequel titled “1944,” which will follow the Depression-era Duttons. In addition, a modern-day spin-off that is currently being given the working title “2024” is also in the works. Details about that series have been very scarce. However, fans are very excited about the possibilities.

“There are lots of places where a way of life that existed for 150 years is slamming against a new way of life, but the challenges are completely different,” Sheridan previously told The Hollywood Reporter of the spin-offs. “There are a lot of places you can tell this story.” This is more evidence that the show will revolve around a new set of characters who will seemingly struggle to adjust to the trials and tribulations of a changing world in a similar way to the Duttons.

6666 is also on the way

Finally, a spin-off show about the Four Sixes ranch, titled “6666,” is also on the horizon. This series will feature stories from characters working on the Texas ranch, including fan-favorite “Yellowstone” character Jimmy.

When it comes to “Yellowstone,” the original series may be headed toward the end. However, new shows in the franchise will be there to keep fans entertained in its absence. The final episodes of “Yellowstone” will begin airing in November.
