“Young and the Restless” fans are shocked to learn that they’ll be losing a fan favorite character. Actor Greg Rikaart will be leaving the CBS soap opera, and the role of Kevin Fisher, which he has held for 14 years.
According to TVLine, the Daytime Emmy winner will leave “The Young and the Restless” this summer. While Greg Rikaart hasn’t commented on his reported departure from the soap, sources have confirmed that Greg’s contract with the series was not renewed.
Rikaart first appeared on “Young and the Restless” back in 2003 as internet predator Kevin Fisher. The role was supposed to be a short-lived one, but viewers immediately liked the villain and he was later signed to a contract. 14 years later, things are very different for Kevin. He’s turned his life, is a father, and even holds a job at the Genoa City Police Department.
Kevin Fisher is set to been seen in Genoa City throughout the summer, and will say his final goodbye sometime in August. While “Young and the Restless” fans are wondering how and why Greg Rikaart’s character will exit the soap, rumors are swirling that he will not be killed off, and that the writers will keep the character alive for any possible future returns.
