Zayn Malik quits One Direction. It sounds like a the headlines to every fan’s worst nightmare, but it’s true. Malik has officially quit the boyband and the they released a statement to confirm the news on Wednesday, the Associated Press reports.

Zayn apologized to his fans with a heartfelt goodbye. “My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I’d like to apologize to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right.”

The news that Zayn Malik has called it quits with One Direction comes just days after it was announced he was leaving the 1D tour for some personal time following reports and photographs that suggest Malik had been cheating on his fiance, Perrie Edwards.

As previously reported by Hollywood News Daily, the band will go on without Zayn, who began seeking legal advice upon considering leaving the very popular UK boyband.

Time To Move On?

The remaining members of the group, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Liam Payne are said to be ready to move on without Zayn. However, some fans believe this could be the beginning of the end for the group.

Everyone boyband has it’s day. Justin Timberlake left ‘N Sync and has had an amazing career, Nick Jonas is topping the charts after splitting with The Jonas Brothers, so maybe the guys will eventually go their separate ways and pursue solo careers. One things is for sure, the future of One Direction hangs in the balance.
